The Boston Celtics are an American basketball team in the NBA league. The team is based in Boston, Massachusetts, and plays in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. Their home arena is TD Garden, which they share with the NHL team Boston Bruins. The head coach is Brad Stevens. The team has won the NBA championship 17 times, including eight consecutive years from 1959-66.
After stagnating in the 1990s, the Celtics returned to greatness in 2007 and won the championship in 2008 with the help of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Rajon Rondo. Together, they were declared the new "Big 3," following the original "Big 3" era from the 1980s, which consisted of iconic players Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, and Robert Parish.
