The Story of New Era – Headwear for Over 100 Years
For over 100 years, New Era has been making caps that have helped define what we today associate with headwear and visors. It all started in 1920, when craftsman Ehrhardt Koch borrowed money from his sister to start New Era Cap Co.
His goal was to redesign the headwear that existed at the time. With high expertise and an open mind, his business idea quickly became a success, and over 60,000 Gatsby-style caps were made in the first year alone.
The Original Sports Cap
In the 1930s, baseball started to gain popularity, and as the cap fashion waned a bit, Koch's son – Harold, introduced the baseball cap. Initially, they only produced caps for the Cleveland Indians baseball team.
New Era was for a long time a popular cap brand in baseball. Later, it also became the preferred cap for several other sports. In 2016, they became the only brand in sports history to hold exclusive rights for all major US leagues at the same time.
Why are these caps so popular?
There's no doubt that New Era caps are well-liked, and there are several reasons for it. The main reason is probably that they have been, and still are, worn by sports stars. They are therefore popular among both athletes and fans, who often want to wear caps with their team's logo.

In addition to being loved by athletes and fans, the New Era Cap has become an item many people wear daily. The most popular New Era caps are those with the LA logo (Los Angeles Dodgers) and the NY logo (New York Yankees).
