Guide to buying a cap

If you're buying a cap as a gift for someone, it might be a good idea to play it safe when it comes to shape and size. In Norway, tall and stiff caps are less common; for us, a regular cap is a medium-height cap with a curved brim. Classic baseball caps like the New Era 9Forty and Yupoong 7706 are safe choices, both of which have adjustable sizes.

All unstructured caps conform more to the head and provide a soft and relaxed look. These caps do not sit high on the head (low profile). The Dad Cap category is a good example of such caps. Dad Caps have 6 panels and are sewn together in a traditional way. Here you'll find, among others, New Era's 9Twenty model. 5-panel caps are usually unstructured, so they can also provide a relaxed look. Otherwise, caps made of soft fabrics will give a soft and relaxed look, e.g., wool or corduroy.

For those who like American sports and love wearing a cap, there's usually one model that applies. The New Era 59Fifty is the official cap for both NFL, NBA and MLB. That's why it has earned a special place in street culture. It's tall, wide, and has a flat brim. It's a crisp look! For the 59Fifty, you need to know your size! Otherwise, 5-panel caps have made their way into the streets, especially among those who like skateboarding and snowboarding.

Many of these caps sit low on the head (low profile) and many of them come with retro logos no longer used by the teams. This includes New Era 29Twenty and models with a "Retro crown", which means they have a lower profile. If you like 80s vibes, there's also the 9Fifty model, which is taller, with a structured front and a snapback for size adjustment. Brands like Ebbets Field Flannels produce almost exclusively caps with a retro style.

A wonderful collection of everything that smells of diesel, bonfires, ammo, jet skis, or ironic distance. It often leans towards army inspiration or trucker caps. Both of these styles never go out of fashion. The latter is iconic, loved, and hated. Typically, it has a high, stiffened front, soft mesh around the rest, and a snapback closure for versatile size adjustment. Even if you're not planning to run a marathon in the blazing sun, you might like the look, and who doesn't appreciate light and well-ventilated clothing? Many customers believe they have a large head, and we often have to disappoint them! Not many are blessed with carrying so much wisdom. If you have a small head, it's easy to find a cap that fits! For example, we have “Youth” and “Child” models from New Era that have the exact same style and quality as larger models. If you like trucker caps, Yupoong has a model called 6606 Retro trucker. Otherwise, all “Women's caps” will be smaller. Another good idea is to try a low profile cap.
